Successful performance in this position requires a person with the skills and experience to manage drone-mapping projects. Must understand and have the ability to perform field surveys, set ground control points, perform volume calculations, and all tasks associated with topographic mapping.
Will work with our existing team, including our CAD manager and 3 other FAA-certified drone pilots. Position requires someone with integrity, maturity, energy, the ability to multi-task. Additionally, this person will be required to interface with existing and potential clients, assist in market development and must be punctual, highly organized, detail-oriented, creative, and computer-literate.
Previous experience with writing and editing;
Licensed as a land surveyor – or able to be licensed within 6 months;
Excellent organizational skills;
Excellent writing skills;
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work as part of a team;
Proficiency with MS Word;
Experience with MS Excel, Powerpoint will also be useful;
Advanced spreadsheet skills a plus
Must be Familiar with the Following (or similar) Technologies/Software:
Sensefly eBee (fixed wing drone);
Sensefly eMotion (flight software for the eBee);
3DR and dji (multi-rotor drones);
Pix4D (drone-based processing/mapping software);
AutoCAD Civil 3D;
Familiar with traditional land surveying equipment (total stations, GPS base stations and rovers)
This person works with all staff as required and is responsible for various project work assignments that may include: Scheduling drone flights; traveling to conduct drone flyovers; setting ground control points, processing data gathered; creating reports; creating proposals; analyzing data; communicating with clients.
Specific responsibilities may include:
Traveling to the location of drone-mapping projects;
Conducting onsite aerial drone operations for surveying, photography, and videography purposes;
Assisting with drone mapping post-flight processing (Pix4D Processing);
Assisting with developing topographic maps (AutoCAD Civil 3D);
Assisting with the development of fill sequence and soil management plans (AutoCAD Civil 3D);
Assisting with developing operational tracking spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel);
Create and present training sessions and webinars on drone mapping;
Develop and use a variety of spreadsheet models to:
Measure productivity of various construction activities;
Create and revise project cost estimates;
Communicate with staff and clients to gather info and preset findings;
Prepare technical documents:
Develop proposals for new projects;
Prepare report outline and draft reports;
Assist consulting staff with preparation of preliminary and final reports;
