Under general direction, the Waste Management Superintendent directs, manages, supervises, and coordinates the activities and operations of the Department of Waste Management and Recycling including waste collection, transfer and disposal operations; curbside recycling; organic waste collection and other resource recovery and waste diversion programs; and coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments, outside agencies, and the general public.
Two years of full time paid management experience in solid waste operations activities involving the development and supervision of operational programs, policies and procedures, budget preparation, and contract administration.
AND
A Bachelor’s Degree, or higher, from an accredited four-year college or university.
Note: Additional full time paid management experience as described above in solid waste operations activities involving the development and supervision of operational programs, policies and procedures, budget preparation, and contract administration may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. (2080 hours is equal to 30 units)
